Erwin Meets Goldilocks

A program to build understanding of quantum mechanics in one dimension

Click here to download Old Instructions and Problem Set

Click here to download new preliminary instructions for getting started with the Java version.

Note that the theoretical background that will enable you to learn from this program is in the old instructions (first link above). The new instructions are just to help you find which buttons to press in the new Java version of the program. So look at the old instructions for the background and problems and the new preliminary instructions to get going.

A tutorial on using the program will be given 3-5 PM on Thursday (9/16) in the normal lecture room (160 SCL). Feel free to come for part of the tutorial.

If you can't come, try to be sure someone with whom you'll be collaborating in doing the problem set is able to attend.

We all owe a debt of gratitude to Tom Gniadek (Yale '02), now in the Medical School, for designing and coding this new version of Erwin Meets Goldilocks so that it can run on many platforms.

If you encounter frustrations, let Prof. McBride know so he can interact with Tom to make things smoother for you.
